Hyderabad: Finance Minister E Rajender today said that he will discuss about the issues of taxpayers, traders and farmers at the GST Council meeting. He admitted that tax payers still have some doubts on the implementation of GST. He said that some more time is needed to clear their doubts on the GST implementation. The Minister held a meeting with Telangana Chamber of Commerce and Traders, farmers of cotton, chilli, turmeric and others at Secretariat here attended by Commercial Taxes Principal Secretary Somesh Kumar and others.
Speaking on the occasion the finance minister the government will hold regular meetings with them to clarify their doubts and explain about the new tax regime and its implications. There is no need of panic on the new tax regime Rajender said. GST Council will hold meetings on regular basis to address the related issues he said adding that he will take up their problems to it to get clarity. He also tried to allay fears that the government will from time to time will take up the apprehensions and doubts of the commercial crops farmers, taxpayers and people. The government will also hold awareness camps and meetings at districts for the benefit of the people and traders the finance minister stated.
Traders brought to the notice of the minister several issues of tax payment, slabs, payment mode on the occasion. Some traders have raised objection as it will burden with funds if the present process of paying tax while purchasing the produce from the farmers is continued. So to avoid that problem the government should help them pay taxes while selling the produce at the market after procuring the same from the farmers.
Somesh Kumar said that they have a plan to inform the people about the new tax regime and its implications. There is no need of worry among the traders, farmers, taxpayers and people as the GST issues will settle and get simplified in two to three months, Somesh Kumar said. (NSS)
