Will continue taking steps for separate Tamil Eelam for SL Tamils: Jayalalithaa

Chennai: Kicking her campaign up a notch in poll-bound Tamil Nadu, AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa on Saturday assured that she will continue her fight to create a separate Tamil Eelam for the Sri Lankan Tamils.

“I will take steps for creation of separate Tamil Eelam for Sri Lankan Tamils where they can live an independent and respectable life. We will also seek dual citizenship for Sri Lankan Tamils living in Tamil Nadu,” Jaya said.

She added that she will continue demanding an independent international investigation on the people who committed genocide in Sri Lanka.

Tamil Eelam is a proposed independent state that Tamils in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora aspire to create in Sri Lanka.

Jayalalithaa had adopted a stance sympathising the Eelam after her defeat in the 2006 assembly elections to the DMK. (ANI)
