Will contest BJP plus in TN polls: Javadekar

New Delhi : Minister of State for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the BJP was ready to forge an alliance with those who wish to join the party fold, adding that the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be fought under the guidance of central leadership.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party along with our friends IJK, NJP, IPP and some other party who are willing to come with us, we are contesting. Every party has right to have an alliance. There is a multi-corned programme. The BJP is contesting under BJP leadership and we are going BJP plus. Today we are going ahead as BJP plus,” Javadekar told the media here.

He said that the BJP’s state election committee would meet tomorrow to finalize the candidates for the upcoming polls.

“Our Election Committee of the state will meet tomorrow to finalise the candidates and we are going ahead with our campaign. And the rumors that are always floating, BJP is contesting on its own and BJP is contesting with our friends who are coming with us. Tomorrow, we will have an Election Committee meeting and the day after the Tamil Nadu team will come to Delhi. The first batch of tickets will be decided tomorrow,” he added.

Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on May 16 while the results will be announced on May 19.

Tamil Nadu has 234 assembly seats. In the 2011 assembly elections, AIADMK had won 150, DMDK-29, DMK-23, CPM-10, CPI-9 and others-13 seats respectively. (ANI)
