Hyderabad, April 25: World renowned spiritual Guru Satya Sai Baba has put the backward and sleepy district of Anantapur prominently on the World map, by making it his platform for spreading the message of love, peace, compassion, service and spirituality.
He has showered his kindness hapless millions and turned the small town Puttaparti into a sacred land and a pilgrimage. It was from here he has shown to the world what one man could do where governments failed. He has attracted millions with his preachings and service from there. As a recognition to his services to the humanity, the state government is proposing to name the district after him.
The government also appears to have plans to develop Puttaparti, the abode of Satya Sai as a pilgrim centre on the lines of Shirdi, which is visited by millions, because of the Samadhi of Sai Baba. An official announcement about naming Anantapur as ‘Satya Sai district’ is likely to be made after a formal discussion in the state cabinet.
