Baripada, August 26: A wild tusker was electrocuted after it came in contact with a high voltage power line in Mayurbhanj district of Orissa, official sources said here today.
The elephant, aged about 30 years, was roaming in Karanjia area, about 120 km from here, when its trunk came in contact with an electric wire late last night, they said.
After the elephant’s body was spotted this morning, senior forest department officials rushed to the area.
Local residents expressed concern over the low height of the electricity lines .
