Pune: A 39-year-old drunk man was cremated by his family in the middle of the night near the house on Tuesday night in Wadgaon Sheri.
The deceased has been identified as Nilesh Bhimaji Kamble, 39, worked as a painter and lived in Sathe vasti, Wadgaon Sheri while his worked as a domestic help.
According to the reports, the drunk dad alone with his two kids -16 years old daughter and 10 years old son, while his wife was away for shopping, demanded food.
When the daughter did not comply with her drunk father’s order, he started beating the two kids said Sub-inspector S Saste, Lonikand Police station.
“He then fell down and the two children ran out, shut the door from outside and sat on the roadside. When their mother came back, they found that the father was dead. They then burnt the body near their house,” added the PSI Saste.
The incident came to light after his wife and the two kids informed their dad’s brother about his sudden death and cremation.
Following which the deceased man’s brother filed a complaint with the Police around 10:30 am on Wednesday.
The Police confirmed the cremation after they found ash and bones near the house where the deceased was burnt, but however, could not affirm if the bones were of deceased Kamble.
“The case depends on the complaint in the matter which will be lodged after recording the brother’s statement,” said Suhas Garud, deputy superintendent of police, Haveli, HT reports.
