Wife, in-laws kill lecturer for refusing to sell home

A 33-year-old man was strangulated to death allegedly by his wife and in-laws when he refused to sell away his home.

According to Vanasthalipuram police, the deceased, K Shravan Kumar, was strangulated by his wife Pavani, her parents Vijaya and Narasimha, relative Suresh (who is also head constable in Qazipet) and another person Mallareddy. The incident took place at Shravan’s residence in Balaji Nagar of Injapur on Sunday night.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Shravan, lecturer in VMR Polytechnic College, was married to Pavani abouit eight years ago. They had two children – Abhinav (7) and Vashishta (4). He constructed a house in Bonguluru village by taking loan from bank. Previously he was employed with Arya Bhatta Engineering College. After clearing the bank loan, he quit the job in Arya Bhatta College to join VMR Polytechnic College.

For the last few months, his wife Pavani and her relatives were pressuring him to sell away the home. Without his knowledge, Pavani also mortgaged the house documents for Rs 1.5 lakh about seven months ago. However, Shravan refused to sell the home. On Sunday night, Pavani and her relatives had a heated argument with him on the issue and later allegedly strangulated him to death.

The Vanasthalipuram police registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against Pavani and her relatives under Sections 302 & 120B of IPC (R/w 34) and began investigations, Inspector P Gopala Krishna. (INN)
