An officer of the Mira Road police station said the couple has two children — Arvindan (16) and Archana (8) — and they stayed in Flat no 303 of Shri Vijay Apartment in Indralok Complex near Golden Nest area. The two suspected each other of having extra-marital affairs and used to fight frequently. On Saturday night, the couple again had a heated argument.

The next morning, when Arvindan went to their parents’ room, he saw his mother standing at the door with a blood-stained stone object in her hand, while his father was lying in bed with a deep wound on his head. Arvindan immediately called his neighbours for help and rushed his father to Chirayu Hospital for medical assistance. He is recuperating.

Sundari, who allegedly attacked her husband with the intension to kill him, tried to commit suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan. But she survived, as the rope got stretched and her feet touched the ground.

Mira Road police recorded Arvindan’s statement in the presence of magistrate and registered a case against Sundari under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code. PSI Anil Gopal is conducting further investigation.
