Widows and old-aged forced to make rounds of govt. offices for pension

In times of rising prices, even as the inflation rate has increased to 200 percent, government is giving Rs 200 as pension to widows and old-aged persons even today, which is insufficient to buy ration for one day. In the time of rising prices Rs 200 is no doubt a paltry sum.

The worst part of it, is the hardship faced by the elderly persons to get that amount. Earlier pension was given at any government office in each area but now the pension is given at one point where the pensioner has to go by auto which charges almost half of the amount they get as pension. The pensioners say that they are forced to make several rounds of the office in the name of paper work.
