In a bizarre incident, a man, who is supposed to protect his children like an eyelid, brutally murdered his two children in Suraram colony under Dundigal police limits near here late Monday night.
According to the information, one Sampat Kumar and his wife Lakshmi of Gandi Ramaram village under Nirmada mandal of Warangal district migrated to Hyderabad for eking out livelihood. The couple was residing in Santoshnagar in Suraram village with their children – Rakesh (10) and Rajashri (9). As Lakshmi died last year due to some ailment, the children were staying with their maternal grand mother for studying.
Sampath Kumar, who was very much depressed brought his children home due to summer vacation and hanged them to death from fan using bathroom towel. The children were planning to leave for their uncle’s home at Borabanda as schools were to re-open in a week’s time. Under influence of alcohol, Sampath Kumar allegedly murdered them.
The irate residents in the locality gave him a sound thrashing for his devilish act and handed him over to police. The accused was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for treatment. (NSS)
