Widow ends life due to ‘harassment’ by home guard

Nashik: A 38-year-old widow today allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Shinde village in the district after being fed up with constant harassment by a home guard, police said.

The victim, identified as Vandana Waman Jadhav, was working as a teacher in a Zilla Parishad school, police said, adding she had earlier lodged a complaint against the home guard, Pankaj Thakur, that he was harassing her and constantly calling her on her mobile phone.

After her complaint, police had registered a case against him.

However, since Thakur continued to trouble her, she decided to take the extreme step, an officer of Nashik Road police station said.

The victim’s body was handed over to her relatives after the post-mortem.
