Why Vijaya Sai was alone arrested: HC asks CBI

The High Court has posted the petition of the CBI for cancellation of the bail granted to Vijaya Sai Reddy, accused No. 2 in the illegal assets case against the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, for further hearing to April 18. CBI has filed a lunch motion petition, challenging the bail granted to Vijaya Sai Reddy, an auditor of the Jagan group of companies and Vice Chairman of the Jagati Publications (Sakshi newspaper and TV) owned by Jagan’s family.

The court has questioned why CBI had arrested only Vijaya Sai Reddy while there were 17 accused in the case. The court has questioned if this did not amount to discrimination in the investigation. The court has asked CBI to explain reasons for the delay in the arrest of others.

Replying, CBI officials said that Vijaya Sai Reddy alone was capable of obstructing the investigation and they had sufficient evidence for it. When the court has questioned if investigation was not being impaired because of the other accused, CBI has said that they had strong evidence against Vijaya Sai and assured that it would submit it to the court soon.
