Why Modi government is not giving national animal status to cow? Arshad Madani

New Delhi: Why the government does not accord national animal status to the cow, asks Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind president Maulana Syed Arshad Madani. He expressed concern at the “atmosphere of fear” following violence by ‘gau rakshaks’. Addressing a massive gathering here Maulana Madani reiterated his demand and said, “The government should give national animal status to the cow and we will support it.”

He asked the government to accord national animal status to cow as peacock is given the status of national bird and further said that then whoever kills it either Hindus or Muslims should be punished. He claimed that Hindus mostly eat beef, while Muslims see it as an insult.

On the other hand, he also appealed to Muslims to shun dairy farming and using its milk. Because whatever is happening is not because of the love of cow but for political benefit.
