The Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) has accused the Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) of adopting silence over the fake encounter of five Muslim youth at Alair by the Telangana Police.
“Why MIM did not give a call for Telangana Bandh or staged a protest at the Chief Minister’s office…? Why is it afraid of staging a strong protest against the TRS Government which is responsible for the day light murder of five under trials by the men in uniform…? The MIM, which claims to be the sole representative of the Muslim community, should have raised a strong voice against the fake encounter killings,” said MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan in a media statement on Wednesday.
Amjed Ullah Khan said that the MIM should have forced Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to tender an apology to Muslims of Telangana and order suspension of all policemen who were part of the escort team which killed the five Muslim youth. “The MIM remained silent and neither Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy nor DGP Anurag Sharma were questioned about the incident. The MIM leaders have sold their voice to the TRS Government in order gain some benefits in future. They make tall claims and often give references to the instances that happened in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra or other parts of the country. But they never speak about the injustices and atrocities being done to the Muslim community in Hyderabad or Telangana,” he alleged.
The MBT leader claimed that the MIM failed to make effective representations in several cases of police atrocities in the past also.. “Not a single policeman responsible for killing Eight Muslim youth near Mecca Masjid on 18th May 2007 was punished. No action has been taken in the police firing case of Kishan Bagh area in which three Muslim Youths were killed and several others were injured. The MIM could not pressurize the TRS Government to withdraw the false cases which were registered against the Muslims. Taking advantage of such incidents, the MIM leaders had always bargained for some sops from the ruling parties and remained silent. They are doing the same thing now,” he said.
Amjed Ullah Khan also accused the MIM of misusing the groups like Muslim United Forum. “It uses MUF leaders to impose its decisions upon the common Muslims. They have made it a ritual to meet the Governor and Chief Minister after every incident and threaten the government of dire consequences if such incidents recur. They repeat the same thing after similar incidents are reported. Never in the history, they staged a dharna or rally and confined the protests to drawing rooms,” he said.
The MBT leader said that MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi held over 40 public meetings in different parts of the city when his younger brother Akber Uddin Owaisi (MLA) was injured in a commotion at Barkas over a land dispute. He said, “Asaduddin Owaisi created a scene as if entire Muslim community has been butchered. However, he maintained shameless silence when Muslim youth met with injustices. He said that the common Muslims have understood the weak and opportunistic politics of MIM and they would teach them a fitting lesson in the coming GHMC Elections.”
Amjed Ullah also criticized Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and other Muslim leaders of TRS party for remaining silent over the Alair encounter. He said Mahmood Ali was inducted in the cabinet as he represented the Muslim community. Therefore, he must speak about the issues concerning Muslim community. He should either pressurize the Chief Minister to tender an apology and take stringent action against the guilty policemen, or resign from his post. “The other Muslim leaders of TRS too should re-think on continuing their association with the TRS, as its government is behaving worse than the BJP Governments in the country,” he said.
