Opposition leader Imran Khan Thursday night questioned the US authority of declaring Nawaz Sharif a democratic Prime Minister, saying ‘if we are to become a nation, we will have to stop taking dictation from America’.
Addressing the participants of his party’s sit-in in front of the Parliament House, he said PTI wants to give a clear message to the US to keep a distance from Pakistan’s politics.
He said one would have to behave like a slave when one has billions of rupees in the US banks. “A friend of the US is a traitor,” he said.
“Prime minister Imran Khan will not be a puppet like Nawaz Sharif,” he said.
He said on the hand the government offered to hold talks but on the other deployed police forces. “I am warning the Secretary Interior that if something bad happened he would not find any place to hide,” he added.
Imran Khan warned the government not to make a mistake of using the police force.
he US on Wednesday also appealed to all sides in Pakistan to refrain from violence and resolve their differences through peaceful discussions in a way that strengthens democracy in the country.
“We are carefully monitoring the demonstrations in Islamabad. We urge all sides to refrain from violence, exercise restraint, and respect the rule of law,” Harf had said.
