‘Who are you to decide for Iran?’ Hassan Rouhani to US

Tehran: Just hours after Washington laid out a series of tough demands to be included in a potential new nuclear treaty with Iran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that the world would “not accept” US unilateralism.

Claiming that the era of the States making decisions for the rest of the world was “over”, Rouhani said on Monday, “Countries are independent … We will continue our path with the support of our nation.” He hit back on US saying “Who are you to decide for Iran and the world?”

It must be noted that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo giving an ultimatum to Iran on Monday had said that the US will aim to “crush” Iran with economic and military pressure unless it changes its behaviour in the Middle East. Pompeo, unveiled the administration’s new policy just weeks after President Donald Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal. He said the US will work to counter Tehran’s regional activities, curb its influence in the Middle East and make sure that it never gains a nuclear weapon.
