White House releases Obama’s birth certificate

Washington, April 27: The White House Wednesday morning showed reporters a copy of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and also posted a copy on its official website.

Obama is scheduled to hold a briefing later Wednesday at which he will discuss the issue of his birth in Hawaii, Fox News reported.

“The president believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country,” White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer wrote on the official White House blog.

“It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country,” he wrote.

Donald Trump, a potential contender for the Republican Party in the 2012 elections, publicly said he doubted whether the president was actually born in Hawaii in 1961.
