Former minister and Telangana Nagara Samithi leader Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday, has severely responded to TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s remarks on the birth of Jharkhand State and role of Dr Nagam in the Telangana movement.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Dr Nagam said the TRS president should know the fact that Jharkhand State came into being only after the BJP won some Lok Sabha seats. He also reminded KCR that the BJP has been advocating two States for Telugu Nadu even before the birth of the TRS. He also reminded that the BJP had declared many a time that it would carve out sepatate Telangana State and it was committed to fulfill its promise, he added.
Asking where KCR was during the 1969 Telangana agitation, Nagam ridiculed the TRS chief whether he was thinking that Telangana movement began in 2001. Nagam said he went to jail in 1969 for plunging into Telangana movement and at that time KCR started wearing knickers.
It may be mentioned here that during the Sunday’s public meeting in Nizam College grounds, KCR had said Jharkhand Mukthi Morcha wrested Jharkhand State without the role of any national party. KCR had also claimed that Dr Nagam picked up Telangana slogan only after the TRS came into being, otherwise Dr Nagam would have been in the Telugu Desam party. (NSS)
