Kabul, May 09: The head of the Afghan Taliban, Mullah Omer, has paid a glowing tribute to Osama Bin Laden for his role in the jihad against the Americans.
An official statement issued from Afghan Taliban reads that Osama’s killing could not discourage the mujahedeen struggle worldwide, and that the ‘martyrdom’ would only revitalise them. “Martyrdom was Osama’s dream, and it was finally fulfilled,” it says.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Afghan Taliban spokesperson has sent a copy of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) to rediff.com. Here is an excerpt:
“Sheikh Osama Bin Ladin was martyred in an American attack. Afghan Islami Emirates condoles the killing with his family members and all mujahedeen, and asks for their patience.”
“Osama remained with the Afghan mujahedeen’s side, and always showed great determination in whatever he did. He created such a history that the Muslim Ummah would always feel proud of it,” it reads.
“If Americans and their allies think that by killing Osama, the mujahedeen would be discouraged worldwide, its just wishful thinking. Throughout the history, the mujahedeen have shed their own blood for this noble cause.”
“The killing of one leader does not mean the end of jihad. It is a known fact that when one mujahid dies, hundreds others emerge. Presently, the jihad in Afghanistan is in full swing. The Afghan mujahedeen have been fighting for the last 10 years, and have not surrendered.”
“The Emirate Islami believes that Osama’s martyrdom will further strengthen the mujahedeen,” it says.
