Bhimavaram, November 08: Several women complained to TDP president Chandrababu Naidu that they were not getting loans under Pavala Vaddi scheme and were facing problems with microfinance institutions at a public meeting at Veeravasaram village today as part of his West Godavari tour.
Pointing to a liquor shop near the venue, Naidu said, “See the shop abuzz with drunkards? They are enjoying while the farmers are in trouble. The government is depending on the income derived from liquor.”
Accusing the government of having a step-motherly attitude towards welfare of women, Naidu said MPs and MLAs have forgotten the welfare of the people and were amassing wealth.
Chief minister K Rosaiah was counting the daily income of the government like a businessman, he remarked, while highlighting the poor financial situation in the state.
There were special packages to help the victims of national calamities, but the state government was unable to bring any package from the Centre, he alleged.
Ministers were confined to air-conditioned rooms and were not visiting rain-hit areas and consoling far mers, Naidu alleged.
The TDP would fight against the government until it did justice to the victims, he said. Farmers were in trouble and the agriculture sector was in crisis in the state, he lamented, but instead of helping the needy, the chief minister was making comments against them.
Earlier, addressing the media at Bhimavaram, TDP president said that TDP leaders would extend their co-operation to the people at any time and see that the victims get solace.
“When I was the chief minister I stayed for five days in East Godavari district during 1996 cyclone and supervised relief operations, but chief minister Rosaiah confined himself to aerial survey and to an eye-wash review,” Naidu lambasted.
