Wheat strengthens on rising flour mills demand

New delhi: Wheat prices advanced by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following surging demand from flour mills.

Rice basmati also moved up on uptick in demand.

Traders said rising demand from flour mills mainly kept wheat prices higher. Firming trend in wheat at futures trade also influenced wheat, they said.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) advanced by Rs 20 to Rs 2,040-2,050 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by Rs 10 to Rs 2,060-2,090 per 90 kg. Atta flour mills also edged up by Rs 10 to Rs 1,170-1,180 per 50 kg.

In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also settled higher at Rs 6,600-6,700 and Rs 5,200-6,300 from previus levels of Rs 6,400-6,500 and Rs 4,950-6,100 per quintal respectively.
