Wheat extends gains in futures trade on spot demand

New Delhi, Nov 20: Wheat futures today rose another 0.76 per cent extending previous session”s gains at the Multi Commodity Exchange as speculators increased positions supported by firm demand in spot markets.

At the MCX counters, wheat for delivery in January month contract traded 0.76 per cent higher at Rs 1,410 per quintal with a turnover of one lot.

The grain for delivery in December month contract also traded 0.26 per cent higher at Rs 1,409.40 per quintal in a turnover of 55 lots.

Analysts said, besides a firming trend in the physical markets on account of the ongoing marriage season, covering-up of short positions and good demand in the domestic markets also supported the upside in wheat prices at the futures market.
