New Delhi: WhatsApp, recently, released its much anticipated video calling feature. Although, billions of WhatsApp users waited for this new feature, there is a need to get alert too as in the name of WhatsApp video calling, trap links are being circulated.
Such links will ask to invite your friends to enable this feature. These links may gather your phone information which can be used to hack your phone. The link has been very carefully crafted. At first glance, it will surely deceive the users.
The link first invites users to opt for video calling. It says “You’re invited to try WhatsApp Video Calling feature. Only people with the invitation can enable this feature”.
When a user goes to the link showed in the screenshot, it shows a phony progress bar where the “update” is “installed”. Later, the user is asked to invite 4 friends, and that’s the only way to enable the feature.
To avoid getting trap by such links, enable this new video calling feature only by updating from Google Play Store.
