Bhatkal: An admin of WhatsApp group in Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district was arrested for adding a known offender, who added a morphed picture of PM Modi in the group.
The police also informed that the administrator was later released on bail, HT reported
The group’s admin of ‘The Balse Boys’, Krishna Naik (30), who is an autorickshaw driver was arrested on April 30 from Doddabalse village in Bhatkal. Though it was a group member, Ganesh Naik, who added the pictures in the group on April 14.
On April 15, Anand Naik, another group member objected to the post and registered a complaint with the police and Ganesh Naik was arrested and charged under sections 66 and 67 of the Information Technology Act. He was then released on bail by a court in Bhatkal after one day.
“However, it came to our attention that Krishna Naik had added Ganesh back into the group after the latter left the group. We decided to make him a party to the case because he added a known offender back into the group,” said Suresh Nayak, police inspector of Bhatkal circle.
Due to adding the known offender, Krishna Naik was arrested on Sunday. He was produced before a court in Karwar, which granted him bail on Tuesday.
