Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition organised by Siasat Urdu Daily of Hyderabad in collaboration with Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies was inaugurated by Ms. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi on 11th March at M.F. Hussain Art Gallery at Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi in the presence of Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan and Mr. Amer Ali Khan of Siasat. After inaugurating the exhibition, she wrote in visitors’ book that “A wonderful exhibition- never seen before in Delhi. Thanks so much for bringing such richness”.

Mr. Najeeb Jung, IAS (Rtd) Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia expressed his opinion that “ A delightful experience. Rarely we get to see such exquisite work in Delhi. We at Jamia are grateful to the Siasat Family.

Mr. Syed Shahabuddin, IFS(Rtd),former Ambassador of India in Saudi Arabia wrote that it is a great Exhibition of Islamic Art and Calligraphy. H.E. Saud-Al-Sati, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia wrote “I very much enjoyed what I have seen today at Jamia Millia Islamia”.

H.E. E. Sharif, Ambassador of Algeria said that “Arabic Calligraphy gives the image of the depth of Islamic faith. I really enjoyed the manner the Exhibition has been held at Jamia Millia Islamia. May this Exhibition be followed by many others”.

Another Arab diplomat, Dr. Ghassam Abdullah wrote that I was too touched by such qualitative Art Work that not only illustrates the Quran but also proves that we are keeping it forever looking for future cooperation.
Prof. Shahid Mehdi, Former Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia expressed his feelings after viewing the Exhibition wrote “Congratulations to Siasat for keeping a dying art not only alive but flourishing. I pray these efforts result into producing a new generation of Calligraphers in India. The social aspect of training girls in embroidered Calligraphy is innovative and praiseworthy”.

Dr. Ishtiaque Ahmed of Jawaharlal Nehru University said that “It is a very attractive and impressive piece of Islamic Art and Calligraphy. I really appreciate.”

Mr. Kamal Farooqui, former chairman of Delhi State Minorities Commission wrote in the visitors’ book that “It is an excellent work of Art. Congratulations to Siasat.”

Mr. Siraj Hussain, IAS, Special Secretary, Ministry of Agricultural, Govt. of India found this Exhibition “It is a commendable effort of reviving the art of Calligraphy. There is a big and growing demand for this in India and abroad”.

Ms. Shikha Garg of the Dept of Psychology of Punjab University, Chandigarh wrote that “I can’t explain in any form of words that how beautiful it is and equally giving messages from the supreme one Allah. It is a sheer enlightenment and exposure to the things which we all should be aware of. Remarkable is the Word… and we all should propagate such things to inculcate the most needful message of the supreme one and that is brotherhood and equality of humanity. Very nice……… overwhelming”.

Dr. Suresh K. Goel, Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations wrote “Calligraphy is a unique tradition of Islam, a gift to Indian Tahzeeb, Excellent exhibition. My compliments to Siasat, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and the Calligraphers”.

Dr. Rahman suri, Placement Officer of Jamia Millia Islamia wrote that “I wish it takes leaps and bounds and spreads across the country. Keep it up Siasat. Wishing all the best, a great work.”

Prof. Jitendra Mohan, Professor of Psychology, Punjab University, Chandigarh said that “It was a unique experience of witnessing of spirituality and beauty together in the form of calligraphy.”

Dr. Khaja Ikramuddin, Director of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language expressed his delight saying that” The joy I felt by seeing Arabic Calligraphic exhibits can’t be expressed in words. I pray to Allah, the Almighty to give strength to the calligraphers and organizers. In fact, the art of Calligraphy has deteriorated but the work done by Siasat to revive it, is worth congratulating. I congratulate the Calligraphers.
Mr. Nayeemuddin saberi and Mr. Abdul Lateef I request Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan to promote his art jointly so that it could progress further.

Mr. Khaleequr Rahman, a young congress Leader from Hyderabad also visited the calligraphy Exhibition and congratulated the organizers for reviving this dying art.

Prof. Mohammed Arif Baron from Multan(Pakistan) said that “ The Calligraphy work done by the Artists is demanding me to kiss the hands who gave the religious scripture a unique touch a flavor that attracts and haunts even to a non-Muslim. I salute the organizers who are contributing to revive our dying Calligraphic skills which were once salient attributes of our forefathers. Blessed are those hands which got the honour of producing such a masterpiece. Above all, if somebody wants to learn how media can contribute to make a nation proud of itself by visiting Siasat’s Exhibition today. I really knew what real media is.
