What does Sharma do?

She is the member of the Economic and Social Committee of European Union. It is an advisory organization of the EU.

The affidavit which Ms. Sharma filed indicates that she is an international speaker, advisor, business broker and expert trainer.

In her affidavit, she also mentioned that she does not possess any educational qualifications, no expertise and no training.

She also said that she was facing domestic violence. She had no confidence to start her own business. She started making samosas and earned huge profits. Later, she set up two factories and provided jobs to unemployed persons.

According to the details furnished by the EU, Ms. Sharma had formed her NGO in 2013. She is its founder Director.

As per the documents this NGO has two permanent and one part-time employee. Only three persons are running this “Think Tank”. This newly formed organization also claims to work for the welfare women and children but its website does do not furnish the ground realities.

There are no details about the persons associated with it. The organization claims that it has representatives in the countries.

As per the details obtained from the Transparency Register of EU, the annual budget of this organization is nearly Rs 19 lakh.

The organization which arranged the travel expenses of the MP’s delegation is an NGO name INNS which was started in 1980. There are no details about its Director or members.

The founder of this organization was Narayana Shrivastav, a journalist. BBC telephoned this organization several times to get the details but nothing could be elicited. The man who picked up the call of BBC informed that this phone number belongs to this organization but he did not give any details.

It may be mentioned that a delegation of EU MPs had visited the Maldives last year during the elections. This delegation included Ms. Madhu Sharma also.

Ms. Madhu Sharma’s Group had also published an article in the monthly magazine of EU by name EP Today. In this article, the Govt. of Maldives was heavily criticized.

Two members who were part of the delegation which visited the Maldives were also included in the visit to J&K.
