What Asansol’s Imam did is his culture: Prakash Raj slams BJP MP Babul Supriyo

NEW DELHI: Actor Prakash Raj on Saturday lashed out at Union Minister and former singer Babul Supriyo over his remark on skinning alive local residents of Asansol last week.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave, organised by Aaj Tak channel, Raj said,

“Your leaders are good orators, they keep talking. Today when we are talking about cultural war, we are looking at your behavioural pattern. You know what culture is? All of us are artists here. We need to be more sensitive”.

“Do you know the pain of somebody losing a son? The culture of any religion or human being is; The imam, who lost his son in the riots in Bengal said ‘don’t communalise this, I will go if you want.’ That is culture. You going there and saying ‘I will skin you’ is uncultured.”

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Prakash Raj said, “Culture of any religion teaches compassion and tolerance. Many people have hijacked the idea, and anyone who speaks against them are said to be spreading anti-dharma”.

“Here are two different people in Bengal – cultured and not-cultured but Supriyo did not get the point. A guy who is in anger talks about skinning people but a man who is badly hurt and lost his son calls for peace. Look at the culture of that man,” Prakash Raj added.

Supriyo, BJP MP of Asansol in West Bengal, on Thursday threatens to “skin” protesters who confronted and shouted slogans against him.

“Aami ki apnader ke bolbo lorai koro? Ami chole jabo, apnader opor goli cholbe (Will I ask you to fight? I will leave and you will come under fire).”

The Ram Navami celebrations on March 25 had turned sour after clashes erupted in various parts of Bengal leaving four dead and several injured.
