Western Air Command has bagged the XIXth Air Force Chess Championship 2012-13 which concluded today at the Air Force Station Hakimpet near here. Sergeant K Srikanth of Western Air Command was declared winner of Individual Championship category and Leading Aircraftsmen Arun Kumar of Maintenance Command was declared the most upcoming player of the Championship, according to release here.
Ten players were selected to represent IAF in the inter-services Championship at the end of the event.
In the closing ceremony held today, Air Commodore D K Awasthi, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Hakimpet, gave away the prizes.
Forty one players representing various Commands and Air HQ Sports Command took part in the event which began on August 27 and continued over a period of five days. UNI
