West Ham rally past Man Utd in Uptown Park farewell

Johannesburg: Manchester United’s hopes of securing the Champions League qualification have dealt a severe blow after suffering a 3-2 defeat to West Ham United in their Premier Clash at Upton Park last evening.

Diafra Sakho put West Ham ahead in the 10th minute before Antony Martial scored an equaliser six minutes after half time. The French international then boosted United’s hopes by scoring another goal minutes later.

However, Michail Antonio levelled with a bullet header in the 76th minute before West Ham captain Winston Reid scored the decisive goal four minutes later to clinch the victory in a resounding fashion.

United are now fifth in the points table and can only finish fourth if they beat Bournemouth at home on Sunday and Manchester City lose at Swansea City.

This was the last Premier League game at Uptown Park as West Ham are moving to the Olympic Stadium next season. (ANI)
