West Bengal by election outcome:Trinmool Congress’ victory campaign continues

Kolkata, November 10: Continuing with its victory campaign, Trinamool Congress-Congress alliance on Tuesday made a clean sweep in the West Bengal assembly by-polls by emerging victorious on eight of the 10 constituencies.

Giving a huge blow to the Left Front, the alliance put an impressive show with inspiring figure of eight seats victory. The LF could win only a single seat. An independent also registered victory in the assembly by-elections.

Contrary to the observation of political pundits, the by-elections proved fruitful for the alliance. However, the left was hopeful for improvement in its tally.

Outcome of the bypolls is a great shocker for the CPI-M leaders as the Trinamool Congress won all the seven seats it contested. The Trinmool retained five seats.

Proving its might against the arch rival, candidates of Mamata Banerjee-led Trinmool defeated CPI-M candidates in Belgachia East and Rajganj seats.

However, it was a poor show for the Congress as the Party had to win only one of the three seats it contested.

Though the Party succeeded in saving its bastion Sujapur in Malda district, it lost Goalpokhar seat in North Dinajpur district to the Forward Bloc.

Bongaon, Serampore, Alipore, Contai South and Egra constituencies were retained by Trinmool Congress.

Stunning political pundits and other candidates, an independent bagged the Kalchini seat in north Bengal’s Jalpaiguri.

Abu Nasser Khan Chowdhury emerged victorious in Sujapur, the stronghold of Congress.
