London : Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to hold contract talks with his two star players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil until at least the end of this year, saying that it could turn out to be a distraction in their bid for the Premier League title.
Wenger said that in-form Sanchez and Ozil are required to display their full concentration towards the upcoming league matches at the moment.
“We’ll deal with that later in the season. At the moment we focus more on the present,” Wenger was quoted as saying by goal.com.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Ozil, whose current deal with the club expires in June 2018, insisted that he was in no rush to sign a new deal with the club.
“My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment,” said the German midfielder.
Describing his decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal as `right`, Ozil said that he was extremely happy and quite satisfied with his current club.
Meanwhile, Sanchez, who is currently sidelined due to hamstring injury, was expected to remain out of action until the second week of January.
Arsenal are just two point behind top-placed Leicester City and will now lock horns with Southampton on December 27.(ANI)
