PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana has said that Telangana was a very sensitive issue and assured that he would prevail upon the Central government to take steps to find an early solution to it.
Botcha inaugurated the extended session of the Congress at the LB stadium here on Sunday. Union minister and State Congress Affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, several public representatives and leaders participated in the meeting. Botcha said that this brain-storming session was called to take the welfare and development schemes into the people. He said a direction would be given to these programs.
Some MPs of the Telangana region raised slogans of Jai Telangana during the meeting. Responding, Botcha said that the Congress party would respect the sentiments of the people. He said the matter was under the consideration of the Union government. He also exuded confidence that a solution to the issue would be found soon. He has alleged that some people, who have benefited through misuse of power, have started a political party with their ill-gotten wealth.
Stating that people were intelligent, Botcha said they know people and their plans. He said that governance in the State was pro-people. He said there was need to further strengthen the party in the State. He said the UPA government at the Centre was also working with the sole interest of welfare of the poor and the development of the country. He said with the cash transfer scheme, people would directly be benefited. He also said that by legalizing the sub-plan of the SC – ST sub-plan, the government has prepared ground for the rapid development of these sections. He has asked Congress workers to work for strengthening the party.
The meeting has passed a resolution thanking the UPA government for bringing in the FDIs and passing it through Parliament.
