We’ll get 6000 mt urea from Gujarat by Sept 15: Niranjan

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said that about 6000 metric tons of urea and fertilizers will be brought to the State from Hazira Plant of Kribhco company in Gujarat in two days. “We are creating a history of sorts that on an average 12,000 tons of urea is being shifted a day to the State, he said.


The State has shifted 1,28,277 metric tons of urea from September 1 to 13, he informed. In just 36 hours, the State will get 6,000 metric tons of urea and there was no need of panic, he said.

“Due to continuous monitoring and coordination, we are able to shift the urea stocks in just 24 hours”, he said, adding that 5,700 metric tons have already been shifted by road. “As soon as we get the stocks, the urea will be shifted to districts, tows, manuals, and villages, and farmers can get the same, he promised. The minister held a review meeting with the officials and arrival of urea and fertiliser stocks from other States.


He already made a visit to Gangavaram Port in Visakhapatnam and is to get about 5200 metric tons of urea for our state. He said with instructions from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the officials of Transport and Railways have speeded upshifting of the urea stocks to the State. Also, another 18,200 metric tons of urea is getting ready for loading in other states and reach identified rakes in the state by Sept 15. A total of 700 metric tons made available in all 31 districts, he said. The farmers used 6.72 lakh metric tons of urea during last Kharif season, he said adding that 7.36 lakh metric tons urea stocks supplied so far.
