L B Nagar colony is located adjacent to L B Nagar Rangareddy court. The colony had a very beautiful 3 storied well which was once the architectural masterpiece. With arches in every story, the construction had a reflection of Islamic art and architecture. Unfortunately the land grabbers have not only transformed the historical Asaf Jahi well into a plot but has also got it registered in their names.
Neither the municipal corporation came into action nor department of archeology came forward to protect it. Even the officials of mandal office remained silent despite repeated representations. Officials of government departments become deaf and blind, when their palms are greased.
According to locals the cost of the land in the area is 30 to 35 thousand per sqyd thus the cost of more than 500 sqyds plot would come up to somewhere around 1.5 crore.
It must be noted that the Asaf Jah VII, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur had dug the well for the convenience of the people residing in the surrounding areas. Land grabbers began their effort to wipe out its existence since October 2009 and by piling up garbage on it turned it into a levelled plot. But despite their efforts to hide the well, its signs are still visible as you can see them in the photo.
