Weapons seized from RSS office in a police raid

Weapons from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) office in Nedumangad were seized in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. on Wednesday.

Weapons including swords, daggers, wooden sticks, a sack of stones, two bottles of chemicals that were allegedly used to manufacture crude bombs were allegedly seized in the raid led by Nedumangad Dy.SP. D. Asokan.

The official sources said that the operation was conducted in connection with the ongoing inquiry into the violence that had unfolded on the hartal day on January 3 when country bombs were hurled at the Nedumangad police station.

Nedumangad Sub Inspector Anil Kumar told TNM that “Swords, knives, daggers, wooden rods and sack of granites were seized from the RSS office. They had also stored a chemical used in country bombs.”

A look-out notice had been issued for the prime accused, Praveen, an RSS worker who hails from Nooranad, was still on the run. The weapons were purportedly found from a room where the accused used to reside. The police suspected the weapons to have been used for the violence.

The police identified Praveen from the visuals captured on CCTV. He was seen aiming at the station and throwing multiple bombs he was carrying in a bag.

In a video Praveen was seen hurling bombs on the police station, he was surrounded by a few men. According to media reports, at least 5 people were injured in the bomb attack.
