Weapon supply racket busted, 14 guns recovered

New Delhi, November 02: A 26-year-old resident of Bihar has been arrested for illegally selling guns and ammunition in the national capital, police said Monday.

Sleuths of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested Manish Kumar from Rohini Sector-24 last month and recovered 12 pistols from him. Two revolvers and 86 rounds of ammunition were recovered later during the raids at his hideouts.

The police said the weapons were manufactured indiegenously in and around Munger district in Bihar.

“In the past one year, various instances of use of sophisticated weapons by criminals while committing robberies and snatchings were reported in the national capital region. So, we tried to ascertain the source of these weapons and apprehend people involved in supplying weapons to criminals,” said Additional Commissioner of Police
(Crime Branch) Neeraj Thakur.

He said after arresting Manish, many places in Bihar were raided along with the state police.

“Manish sold weapons for amounts between Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 50,000 each. He also provided spare magazines and ammunition to his buyers. He would get the weapons etched and marked with engravings such as ‘Made in Italy’, ‘Made in USA’, ‘Made in England’, ‘Beretta’ and ‘Smith & Wesson’ to sell them easily,” Thakur added.
