We won despite ‘Akhlaq issue’: Twitter reacts on Amit Shah’s remark

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah’s casually mentioning the 2015 Akhlaq lynching incident and award wapsi to sweep the Rajasthan polls was widely condemned on social media platforms.

Addressing the BJP office bearers and party workers on Tuesday at the conference of Shakti Kendra Units in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Shah said, “Akhlaq hua tab bhi jeete the, award wapsi hui tab bhi jeete the, ab kuch karenge to bhi jeetenge. Bharatiya Janata party ka karyakarta vijay ke liye dradh nischit hai (When Akhlaq happened we had won, had also won when award wapsi happened, if they do something now, then too we will win. BJP workers are certain of victory).”

“Yeh phir se koi naya kaand karenge (They will not stop and will cook up some issue again ahead of the elections). And, I am telling you, we will win again,” he said.

Mohammed Akhlaq was killed by a mob of self-styled ‘Gau Rakshaks’ on suspicion of eating beef In Dadri’s Bishada village of Uttar Pradesh in 2015.

Several mob lynchings such as the killings of Rakbar Khan and Pehlu Khan in Alwar district occurred in Vasundhara Raje government in Rajasthan over the last few years.
