Hyderabad, November 15:State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday called upon voters of Greater Hyderabad to reject both the Congress Party and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), as they had indulged in vote bank politics in the ensuing GHMC elections. He was confident that his party would win in double digit divisions in the elections but refused to reveal exact number.
Releasing the Party’s manifesto for GHMC elections, Mr Dattatreya said that the ruling Congress party and the main Opposition TDP had secret understanding with Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) respectively to gain Muslim votes. The Lok Satta had adopted a strategy not to criticize and target MIM, he said. He accused TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for criticizing MIM by keeping MBT by his side. Mr Naidu had just one point policy and that was how to come to power, Mr Dattatreya alleged.
He said that it was unfortunate that the ruling Congress Party was going to GHMC elections without a poll manifesto. He questioned the TDP supremo as to how his party would complete MMTS-phase II and metro rail project with support of ruling party at Centre. The Lok Satta election manifesto had not touched upon the problems of dalits and the poor. He regretted that the Congress Government had turned Metro Rail Project into a ‘big scandal’.
He alleged that the earlier TDP government and the present Congress government had acquired land from the poor on the outskirts of the city forcibly and handed it over to the private companies at throw away prices. Regarding land allocation to private firms, the late YSR was a retailer and Mr Chandrababu Naidu was a whole sale businessman, he said. The people know very well as to why Mr Naidu had allocated lands to Billi Rao. The Congress and the TDP were two sides of same coin of corruption, he alleged.
Claiming that his party was not against development, he said that peace and safety would only ensure healthy development of the society. The old city had not developed on par with other areas due to poor law and order situation, he opined. He said that those who didnot respect the national song “Vandemataran”, had no right live in the country. “I can understand if MIM and MBT did not speak on the issue. But why are the Congress and the TDP not opening their mouth on it”, he questioned. He strongly criticized Mr Chandrababu Naidu for keeping mum when some persons talked insulting the song ‘ Maa Telugu Thalliki….”.
Mr Dattareya exuded confidence that his party would emerge as a strong force in GHMC elections. The BJP would win remarkable number of divisions. The Congress, TDP, BJP and MIM were equally in the race but his party may be in the lead in the race, he added. (NSS)
