We treat expats with respect: Saudi’s

Riyadh, July 07: A new study prepared by the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue (KACND) revealed on Monday that 35 percent of Saudis believes that non-Saudi residents do not have difficulties adapting to the local customs and traditions.

The study also showed that 45 percent of Saudis say they treat foreign residents with respect, honesty and fairness.

The study which was initiated last month and included some 700 participants from all over the Kingdom showed that 54 percent of Saudis surveyed also believe in the diversity of foreign nationals living and working within Saudi community is overall beneficial.

Around 75 percent confirmed their willingness to collaborate and work with non-Saudis in the market place especially in sales and general trade.

Forty-five percent of the Saudis surveyed said that their treatment to non-Saudi foreign residents is with respect, honesty and fair, while and around 60 percent said they do socialize and communicate with their foreign neighbors constantly.

From his side Faisal Bin Muammar, secretary-general of KACND, said: “Since five years ago the center established an office for measuring public opinion.”

Bin Muammar said that in the future the center plans to expand its phone surveys to for measuring public opinion in Saudi Arabia.

He added: “In KACND we have hired a team of specialists in statistical surveys and in public opinion gathering, these teams will work with specially made computers linked to communication devices to form clearer statistical analysis without any direct human intervention.”

Bin Muammar said statistical information can be also given to Saudi governmental and private bodies. According to Bin Muammar, KACND survey participants included men woman in different age groups and economic backgrounds.
