Bangalore, August 28: India needs more employment generators rather than employment seekers and to have employment generators ‘creative leadership’ is needed, former President A P J Abdul Kalam said.
“India needs a lot of employment generators rather than employment seekers and for this creative leadership is very much needed,” he said while addressing students of Alliance Business School in Chandapur in Anekal taluk near here.
For creative leadership, he said a “creative leader must have a vision and the passion to translate this vision into action. He must be able to traverse unexplored paths and must know how to manage both success and failure. He must have nobility in management, courage to take a decision and must be transparent”.
Creative leader “must work with integrity and succeed with integrity. Above all, he must have the intellectual capacity to accept that the nation is bigger than himself,” he added.
Kalam recalled the struggles of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa, Nelson Mandela against apartheid, contributions of visionaries like Dr Vikram Sarabhai for space research and humility of eminent scientists like Prof. Satish Dhawan and C V Raman.
To transform India into a corruption and poverty-free nation with self-reliance in critical technologies, creative leadership is imperative, Kalam said.
