Congress Telangana MPs said they made the voice of Telangana heard in the Parliament loud and clear.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, the MPs said they made their voice heard before and after the speech of the President in the Parliament. Reiterating their demand that the center should stick to its declaration of December 9, 2009 on Telangana, they said there would be no going back on that demand. They said the same union government made the Telangana declaration as witnessed by the same Parliament. Stating that it was the wish of the people of their region that they should their own state, the MPs demanded that it be created immediately. Referring to the mention of Goorkhaland by some leaders, they said the Telangana demand had nothing in common with the Goorkhaland. They appealed to other leaders not to mix the two matters.
The MPs made it clear that they would not accept special packages or other proposals. Stating that all the Congress MPs of the region were present in the protest, they said only one MP could not participate as he was not at Hyderabad. Clarifying that there were no pressures on them, the MPs said they would always with the people of Telangana. They also made it clear that their fight would not stop until they achieve Telangana state.
The MPs asked the media and people not to believe the misleading statements, reports and resignations of the integrationists. Recalling that the Congress president Sonia Gandhi had assured that she was for Telangana in the Bhongir meeting, they said the Congress leadership should stick to that commitment.
Earlier the MPs staged a dharna at the main entrance of the Parliament house. MPs Gutta Sukhinder Reddy, Manda Jagannatham, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and Rajaiah took part in the dharna. Union minister Vayilar Ravi requested the MPs to meet him. (NSS)
