Aligarh: Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid admitted that the party did have blood on its hands. Responding to a query raised by a student of Aligarh Muslim University on the massacre of Muslims in Muzaffarnagar, Maliana, Meerut, Hashimpura, Bhagalpur, Moradabad and Aligarh riots besides Babri Masjid demolition, senior party leader and former Union minister Salman Khurshid made a startling admission by saying that the Congress has blood on its hands. He urged people to learn from the mistakes they had committed. He was addressing the students of Aligarh Muslim University at Ambedkar Hall Function as chief guest.
According to Times Now News an AMU student and activist, Amir Mintoee, asked Khurshid: “The first amendment in AMU Act was in 1948. Then there was Presidential order in 1950. After that Muslims were massacred in Hasanpura, Maliana, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Bhagalpur and Aligarh. Then there was the opening of the gates of Babri Masjid, placing idols inside and then the demolition of Babri Masjid while Narasimha Rao-led Congress government was in power. Congress has Muslims’ blood on its hands. What do you have to say about it?”
The Times Now News further reported, responding to the query, Khurshid said: “It is a political question. There is blood on our hands. I am also a part of the Congress so let me say it, we have blood on our hands. Is this why are you trying to tell us that if someone attacks you, we must not come forward to protect you? I am telling you. We are ready to show the blood on our hands so that you realise that you too must not get blood on your hands.”
Khurshid said, “If you attack them, you are the ones who would get stains on your hands.” He urged the students to learn something from the past.
