Hyderabad: AICC general secretary and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad today said the credit of giving four percent reservations to Muslims goes to the Congress party only. The Congress tried to give more, but technically it was not possible. Care-taker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao assured 12% reservations to deceive the Muslims in spite of knowing it was not possible to give more than 4%.
In an informal talk with scribes at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, Azad alleged that KCR assured 12% reservations to Muslims to get artificial sympathy. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao deceived all sections of people. He also claimed that K Chandrashekhar Rao had given a word to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi that he would merge the TRS party into Congress but did not do so.
Gulam Nabi Azad said the Congress party would enter into alliance with like minded parties. He wondered that the TRS was extending support to the BJP in Parliament but criticizing the BJP in the State. Pointing out that the TRS extended its support to demonetization of notes, Vice-President elections and on many occasions, he alleged that MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi always joins hands with the parties in power. The MIM was doing “Sarkar politics”, he said. There was no comparison between the Gandhi family and that of KCR. Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi never made their son or daughter or son-in-law as ministers, he reminded.
“There was no role of the TRS in the creation of Telangana State”, he said and made it clear that they did not even discuss the issue with the TRS. “We discussed it with our Congress MPs at that time”, he said. “Andhra Congress MPs stalled the House on the issue. But the Congress firmly stuck to its word on according separate Telangana State”, he said. The TRS leaders were speaking lies on creation of Telangana State, he said. “We sowed the seeds of Telangana, but TRS party took away the crop of Telangana State after formation”, he said.
“The people of the Telangana have realized that they committed a mistake by voting TRS to power in the last elections. Both TRS and BJP parties were same in deceiving the people”, he slammed. Modi and KCR cheated the youth after assuring jobs to them. Both Modi and KCR, who assured minimum support price to farmers but failed to do so. They did not even purchase the crop of the farmers”, he alleged and questioned the TRS government as to why it failed to give fees reimbursement when the State was with surplus budget. He alleged that some 30 percent of educational institutions were closed under KCR regime.
