Kolkata, March 08: Persons from Maoist-hit areas of West Bengal would be recruited in the police force, a senior police officer said today.
“Yes, we have such plans of recruitment,” Director-General of Police Bhupinder Singh said when asked if appointment in state police force will be made from areas where Maoists were active.
The DGP said he had referred to the state home department setting up of a police recruitment board which would be a permanent body for recruitment to posts of constables and sub-inspectors in state police.
“The board will comprise representatives from state public service commission, SC/ST department and police directorate,” he said.
Singh said so far recruitments of constables and SIs were made from PSC, “but it is found that a number of police personnel leave after some time.”
The proposed board, he claimed, would have faster recruitment methods than PSC.
