WB moves Centre for ops with Jharkhand against Maoists

Kolkata, December 26: The West Bengal government has moved the Centre for a joint operation with Jharkhand against the Maoists once a new government was installed in that state.

“We have discussed this with the Centre. We have an open border with Jharkhand. After the new government is installed in that state, the problem will have to be given importance.

It cannot be tackled in an isolated manner,” state Chief Secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty told newsmen this evening.

Pointing out that six company of the para-military forces from the state had been deployed in Jharkhand for the Assembly elections, he said the West Bengal government had received notice of their return, but the forces had not returned yet.

Chakraborty declined to specify the steps the government was taking to arrest top Maoist leader Kisenji.
