WB Govt yet to receive formal notice of CBI probe

Kolkata, Jun 02: The West Bengal government today said ongoing CID probe into the Jnaneswari Express derailment would continue till the notification from the Centre about its decision for a CBI inquiry into the disaster was received.

“Our Chief Secretary (Ardhendu Sen) has received a phone call from (Union Home Secretary) G K Pillai informing him about the CBI inquiry. But, we have not received any formal notification yet,” Home Secretary Samar Ghosh told newsmen.

DGP Bhupinder Singh said the investigation into the disaster by the CID would continue till the notification from the Union Home Ministry was received.

Asked about the possibility of the CID continuing its investigations along with the CBI, the DGP said he could not comment without going through the terms of reference set in the notification for the CBI inquiry.
