WB govt urges Mamata for clearance of pending projects

Kolkata, December 20: The West Bengal government has urged Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for clearance of several pending JNNURM projects and permission for taking up survey on railway land for projects for which central aid was sought.

The Centre has allotted Rs 4 crore for survey under the Rajiv Awas Yojana. “If these are not done, the Centre will not release any financial aid,” Urban Development Minister Asok Bhattacharya said in a recent letter to Banerjee.

Drawing her attention on clearance for some pending projects under JNNURM and survey on railway land, Bhattacharya said that “We have drawn the attention of the Railway Ministry earlier too to accord approval for expeditious execution of the projects.”

The pending projects included flyovers and underpasses, besides pipelines for drinking water and sewerage, he said.
