Kolkata: Even after campaigning came to an end in some constituencies of the city where Assembly polls are scheduled on Thursday, electioneering can go on in adjacent areas, barring a radius of 100 meters, where elections are slated for later this month.
Election Commission officials said campaigning can go on in adjoining areas of constituencies where campaigning has already ended.”In such cases, a radius of 100 meters from the border of the constituency where campaigning has ended has to be kept sanitised from all political campaigning,” officials said.
In Kolkata, there are seven seats in northern part – Chowringhee, Entally, Beleghata, Jorasanko, Shyampukur, Maniktala and Kashipur-Belgachhia – where campaigning ended at 6 PM on Tuesday for the third phase of assembly polls tomorrow. Other parts of the city will go to polls in the fourth and fifth phase on April 25 and 30.
