Johannesburg, Sept. 3: Steve Waugh has backed former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting’s suggestion of ‘no toss in Tests’ during the recent Ashes series against England, saying there is no harm in looking forward to the idea.
Fifty-year-old Waugh suggested that in case there is no toss, the visiting skipper should be allowed to choose between batting and bowling after inspecting the pitch, Sport24 reported.
Waugh, however, said the only drawback of starting a match without a toss will be the excitement that is associated with it.
Waugh also said that losing the toss was not the only reason behind Australia’s Ashes series defeat. The side performed badly and failed to adapt to English conditions.
According to him, players should be capable of performing in every condition. (ANI)
