Watson itching to bowl to avoid Dhoni-type mauling of Oz attack in future

Sydney, Feb 28 (ANI): Shane Watson has revealed he was itching to bowl at Mahendra Singh Dhoni while the Indian captain was smashing Australian bowlers all over the ground during his swaggering double ton in the Chennai Test. The Australian all rounder will now tell Cricket Australia (CA) hierarchy he is unequivocal in his desire to resume bowling after helplessly watching Dhoni bludgeon the Australian attack in the first Test, the Herald Sun reports. Watson has been restricted solely to batting duties on this four-Test tour of India as part of a tailored injury-prevention plan to have the all rounder at full capacity for the Ashes series starting in June, but he is feeling the odd withdrawal symptom. Watson said being a passenger during Dhoni”s pyrotechnics show of a match-winning 224 has only strengthened his resolve to bowl again. Watson added that was a time where if he hadn”t have made the decision not to bowl for this tour that he could have had some input on the game at a crucial time in the match. Watson said that to him it was the first time over the last month he had since he came back playing that he missed bowling. The 31-year-old originally planned to bowl again midway through the Indian Premier League tournament in April, but he may now expedite his return. Asked if he would have wanted to bowl to Dhoni, Watson said absolutely, adding he was a chance of doing it as well, and there is no doubt about that. Watson added it was more so that he bowled to him a lot of times in the past, and he has got a lot of experience of bowling to him in all conditions and all formats. Watson added he felt like he would have had a good chance of being able to try and do something anyway, however, he conceded the form Dhoni was in, it might not have made a difference at all. (ANI)
